Prunus Dão Tinto 2017 ‘Smooth and silky and perfect with lamb’

Prunus Dão Tinto 2017. Here’s a beautifully labelled red Portuguese wine from the mountainous Dão region. The juice comes from vines up to 50 years old and a variety of indigenous grapes of which 80% is Jaen. The grapes are hand-harvested before 24 hours of maceration, twelve days in stainless steel and six months in oak barriques. The result is a beautifully balanced red wine with a touch of oak, a silk texture and a crisp edge. There are hints of mulberries on the deep nose and black cherry, raspberry and chocolate in the mouth. It’s smooth, pleasant and an ideal companion for lamb in all its culinary forms. 13% ABV.
